I will make no attempt to "make sense" of the horrific tragedy that devastated the community of Newtown, Connecticut, and has shaken our nation.


**How can we make sense of the senseless murder of twenty children and seven adults?
**How can we make sense of one deranged individual who was in such a dark place that he shot his own  mother, murdered children and then killed himself?
**Why did that obviously mentally ill person get access to legal firearms by his well meaning mother?

Yesterday, my church -- like I'm sure countless places of worship -- paused to pray for the families, their community and our nation. Our president spoke, on our behalf, words of comfort and support. Now, as we move forward, efforts will be made to prevent this from happening again -- or at least to minimize the risk. It will be a difficult task.

+ + A Societal 'Family' Cancer

What we face is more like a cancer than a virus. Our society has turned on itself, and these mass murders are the shocking fruit. The perpetrators of these crimes now typically turn their weapons on themselves and have essentially become societal suicide bombers. As the military knows, there is no real defense against a suicide bomber who has reached such a point of desperation and delusion that his own life doesn't matter.

Responding to this specific crisis with legislation would be a mistake that politicians will likely make for their own well meaning or selfish reasons.

Responding to the root cause of the crisis would be a better way to go.
And what is that root cause?

The destruction of the US family.

I'm not discounting any other factors, but to address problems with our mental health institutions or virtual reality gaming or the drugging of our children or our gun laws or the media culture's glorification of such violence and not deal with the root cause of our societal decay are vain attempts to mask symptoms.

The statistics back me up on the destruction of the family being at the center of our national crises, including violence. Before I cite the statistics, please do not take these numbers as a condemnation of single moms or dads. There is no condemnation. Many single parents are doing double duty and raising wonderful children. But the numbers are hard to overlook.

Consider what our family brokenness has done to society:

* 3 in 10 children grow up in broken homes.

* In the African-American community, it's far worse: two-thirds of black children grow up with one parent.

* More than half of all babies are conceived out of wedlock.

* Of those conceived out of wedlock, 4 in 10 are aborted. And so, the cycle of violence begins.

* Of the survivors of abortion, half the children born out of wedlock end up in poverty.



Children from broken homes account for:

--63% of teen suicides.

--71% of teen pregnancies.

--90% of homeless and runaways.

--71% of high school dropouts.

--75% of all drug users.

--85% of behavioral disorders.

--70% of those in juvenile detention.

--57% of all prison inmates.

Federal laws, state laws..... what does it take for 'man and woman' marriage? All cultural societies since the beginning of time ONLY recognize a family marriage when TWO different sexes marry ONLY. But think of this, why is it that at some point homosexuals insist that they have no interest in anyone's opinion of them and don't want such 'approval' from heteros. Years ago homosexuals stated they didn't want to be mainstreamed with such institutional "marriage" issues because such hetero issues are uninteresting to them and their lifestyle.
Now, gays hold stop-the-presses news conferences or contribute/approve to the publishing of grandiose news storys on their gay issues that include this 'marriages'' issue even though civil unions are the same legally for years.

I am concerned about my stability, which is now subject to change as the result of a necessary reduction in my medications. I have been taking some 225mg of Abilify, which has been working, and apparently working well. To achieve this dosage, I need to take a 150mg capsule and a 75mg capsule. Unfortunately, when my doctor gave me my next three months' worth of medication, all they sent her was the 150mg capsules. Given how powerful Abilify is, and the unpleasantness of the side-effects associated with changing doses, and last, that I am reaching the top of the safe curve (300mg) with the drug, I have decided to decrease the dose rather than increase it. I have been on a careful reduction regimen for about a week and a half now, and I am feeling noticeable effects in my emotions. It is my hope that these are temporary, being a side-effect of the ongoing reduction. Otherwise, I get to gradually scale up to the 300mg dosage, which is some 33% greater than what I was taking before. I shall have to advise my friends and colleagues to advise me if they see any substantial personality changes.
On the good news side, I have not seen a living cockroach in several days now. It is premature to say that I've won the fight with the little hitchhikers, but it is not too early to entertain the first glimmerings of hope on the subject.Appropos of cockroaches, of a somewhat larger variety, it is my intention, after my next disability check, to run a couple of bricks of ammunition through the pistols, especially the .38. My walls are thinner now, and a failure to hit my target in the unlikely event of a home invasion could have dangerous consequences for my neighbors. Being fundamentally and completely opposed to unnecessary injury or death to all living things, it is therefore a duty to make certain that I continue to only hit what I aim for. Batman shooter ‘was psychiatric patient’ The suspected Batman massacre gunman was seeing a psychiatrist specializing in schizophrenia before the attack that killed 12 in Colorado, court documents showed.
The motion named Lynne Fenton for the first time as defense attorneys sought to gain access to a package James Holmes had mailed to her prior the July 20 mass shooting, which also wounded 58 people. Reports surfaced this week that Holmes — who recently dropped out of the University of Colorado — had sent a notebook to a university psychiatrist that included details and drawings of his plans to kill people. There were conflicting reports about whether the package reached the school in time to potentially prevent the massacre, but officials remained tight-lipped due to a strict gag order imposed by the judge overseeing the case. However, defense attorneys argued that someone had leaked information about the package to the media, thus undercutting Holmes’s right to a fair trial. “The government’s disclosure of this confidential and privileged information has placed Mr. Holmes’ constitutional rights to due process and a fair trial by an impartial jury at serious jeopardy,” the attorneys wrote. In a preview of likely battles to come, the defense lawyers also argued that the contents of the package should not be used as evidence because communications between Holmes and Fenton were “protected.” The filing said Holmes was Fenton’s “psychiatric patient.” Fenton teaches at the University of Colorado’s medical school and heads student mental health services there, in addition to conducting research in schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. But the document did not indicate how long Holmes had been seeing Fenton or whether she was treating him for mental illness. Prosecutors rebuffed the defense motion, arguing that news stories about the package contained significant “factual errors” and that there was no evidence the government was responsible for the leaks. The reporting mistakes may indicate that reporters are “getting information from hoaxers, fraudsters or maybe from nobody at all by creating fake ‘law enforcement sources’ out of whole cloth,” prosecutors wrote. They also indicated that a FoxNews.com report that the package contained a notebook “full of details” about the suspected gunman’s plans for a massacre was incorrect. Holmes, who was studying neuroscience in a doctoral program at the University of Colorado Denver, is expected to be formally charged at his next court hearing on Monday. Judge William Sylvester ordered a hearing on the defense motions to also be held on that day. Separately, attorneys for 21 US news organizations filed a motion asking the Sylvester to reverse his order to seal court records in the case. The judge has ordered prosecutors and the defense to file their motions under seal, and ordered the University of Colorado to withhold records that concern Holmes. Holmes gained access to the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado outside Denver via a fire exit shortly after the screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” began and threw two canisters of noxious gas into the auditorium, witnesses said. After firing one round directly into the air with a pump-action shotgun, he began shooting people at random with a military-style assault rifle capable of firing 50 to 60 rounds a minute. Authorities say Holmes — who had dyed his hair a reddish orange — claimed he was the Joker, Batman’s sworn enemy in the comic book series that inspired director Christopher Nolan’s film trilogy, which features British-born actor Christian Bale as “the caped crusader.” He gave himself up outside the cinema, still clad in the body armor witnesses described the gunman wearing. Authorities said Holmes booby-trapped his apartment with the aim of killing anyone who went outside, likely targeting police and first responders. It was days before neighbors were allowed back in the three-story building. Holmes, 24, is being held in solitary confinement at the Arapahoe County Detention Center and could face the death penalty if convicted, although Colorado has only executed one person since capital punishment was reinstated in 1976. +++++++++++++++++++++



Aurora shooting brings mental health back to the forefront ......Both the Virginia Tech shooter and the individual who shot Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and others in Tucson had mental health records which should have precluded them from owning a firearm. I feel certain that as the media and investigators pick apart this suspect’s life and history, the same information will emerge. When authorities contacted the mother of the alleged Aurora shooting suspect, her response was “you have the right guy”.....Never mind the guns. There’s no reason to provoke the NRA and its members, some of whom might be those classified as mentally or emotionally unstable, into a panic for no reason. Guns did not kill 12 people in the Aurora shooting Friday night. A mentally unstable individual who never should have been able to legally buy one, or three, did. ......The gun control debate took center stage after student Seung-Hui Cho, shot 32 people to death at Virginia Tech in 2007. Liberals said people with a history of mental health issues shouldn't be able to buy guns. Arguing that Cho's victims would have been able to defend themselves had they been packing, right-wingers pushed to allow students to carry weapons onto campuses......A 2008 study found that 6% of Americans suffer from serious mental illnesses, which resulted in an estimated economic loss of $200 billion annually in lost earnings. (This doesn't include the one-quarter of the population who have less serious, diagnosable conditions.) Sixty percent of people with mental illness seek no treatment whatsoever. It's easy to see why: Americans with limited funds must make do with a lame hodgepodge of options when they feel themselves going off the rails: suicide prevention hotlines, support groups, and absurdly low allocations of shrink visits under group insurance plans.... Friday is "National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A", a nationwide protest by gay activists to counter Wednesday's "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day". All the cackling is about gay marriage or free speech. Feathers are flying like there is a fox in the hen house.
Either way, Chick-fil-A is having a Bantam week.
Mike Huckabee, lit the flame for "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day", during his interview on Fox News Channel with Dan Cathy, president of the restaurant chain, who was skewed to the BBQ spit from gay rights folks for stating his support of biblical, traditional marriage and Christian organizations that promote it. The liberal media's "Banty roosters"--the small cocks that crow loud--cried foul. Reporters, bloggers and newscasts spit out words of gay-bashing bigotry like flies on "cow patties." They tossed the First Amendment into the dirt and went scratching for it like hens on a sow bug. Our group of "tea partiers" got up at the crack of dawn on Wednesday to gobble some fried chicken and biscuits and to wave American flags and posters in front of the only Chick-fil-A joint in the San Fernando Valley, a bedroom community just north of Los Angeles. The TV hawks came out to scramble us, but we helped our Chick-fil-A crack a few shells and put all our eggs in one basket: the First Amendment. We planted ourselves for one man's right in America to cluck or crow his beliefs without getting fried for it; especially from the mayors of San Francisco, Boston and Chicago, who give chicken feed a bad name. The eggheads at Chick-fil-A's headquarters in Atlanta counted the chickens after Wednesday's "appreciation day" and crowed about it. Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing wrote, "We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country. While we don't release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day." We doubt the hard-boiled gay activists planning the "kiss day" on Friday will report that kind of success even if they rainbow color their beaks at Chick-fil-A. You see, chicks don't have lips.

The move irked fans so much that it landed Spinrad, Cawley and CBS Television into the pages of The New York Times. There, CBS gets a simple sentence with their statement on why they issued a cease and desist, Cawley gets a simple sentence explaining that he has a great relationship with CBS Television and of course will follow its demand, and what seems like dozens of paragraphs of fans and writers protesting the move.

It just bugs me to hear that CBS Television is being made out as the bad guy here. There is absolutely nothing legally these fan series could do if CBS Television came to them tomorrow and told them to stop production all together, and pull down past episodes from the Internet and no longer make them available for public consumption. Nothing.

There is a dirty little secret that many people publicly manipulate the social welfare system to propogate a fraud in order to get on Govt. cash disability programs for decades, it's called having the vague illness of 'depression'. (Maybe it's a more serious untreated denied 'paraniod schizophrenia', or some other murderous anti-social mental thoughts that many cowards, gun-nuts, and serial killers will eventually be discovered after some murderous tragedy occurs in our 11 o'clock news. FIRST, these frauds obsessively public boast of on their Blogs about this 'depression' because they have the urge to feel superior to ALL others due to some personal fake 'superior' I.Q. or intellect. Does this sound healthy or sane ??!! NO. Some 'fakers' have been caught by Govt. investigators. Then they sell their homes quickly and leave their hometowns. 'Fakers' will hide from new public scrutiny in going 'underground' living in new communities, mobile home parks, or Indian reservations. Kinda sounds like the actions of guilty child molesters or other criminals huh?) Those same folks are taking legitament social public assitance moneys away from those who really need that income and causing a waste of schrinking Govt. public funds.

Some people use it to gain the sympathy and pity of others since their lives are so empty. Some people suffer and get out of their depression with being active with medical help. Others use this reason as a 'gravy train' to help them through life on their own selfish terms. A person who speaks of their "clinical depression" as if it was this major, life impacting disease, tends to be suffering from another entirely different disease, which is abject lonliness. They often are milking the system.

It tends to be a "attention seeking" type of disease. Another reason is that it is a disease that is very easy to fake. It's very difficult to fake cancer etc.. A lot of clinically diagnosed depression is self inflicted. It seems to be widely circumstantial. It can be enviromentally brought on.

Depression is a very real disease in a small limited number of cases, and a disease that claims the lives of thousands of people each year through suicide. Even with all the evidence that supports clinical diagnoses of depression, the truth is that millions of Americans suffer from some sort of depression from time to time, and millions of Americans usually recover from it over time and end up doing perfectly well.
